Overview
The animals and villages we reach with rabies vaccines and veterinary care in Kenya each year are in tremendous need of help. For those who intend to join us, you are in for the adventure of a lifetime. You will be surrounded by the incredible Kenyan culture and amazing wildlife, all while providing lifesaving vaccines, parasiticides, antibiotics, and collars to several remote villages in Kenya. This work can fill your soul and change your life. All are welcome.
Trip participants will focus vaccination and animal care efforts in Taita Taveta along the base of the stunning Mt Kasighau, situated on a critical elephant migratory corridor in the Tsavo ecosystem. Tsavo National Park is world reknowned for the red elephants and the Man Eating" lions of Tsavo. Due to the county’s location around the national park and the abundant wildlife, the incidence of rabies is high. The African Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) has partnered with the Kenyan government to establish mass animal vaccination clinics in order to eliminate human incidences of rabies by the year 2030. It is an incredible goal and the coordinated efforts are working. Since initiating the vaccine clinics, we have made great strides in reducing the incidence of rabies and improving both animal welfare and public health. Since 2019 we have been able to vaccinate over 20,000 dogs, cats, and donkeys. Whilst clinic days can be exhausting, afternoons/evenings are filled with wildlife viewing, tribal dances, women's groups, baby elephants, and visiting local schools for a game of soccer.
Vaccination Clinics
The second part of the trip is an optional safari to the Maasai Mara. The Mara is a once in a lifetime experience and not to be missed! Imagine landing on a red-dirt runway after an initial pass to move the wildebeest out of the way, then hopping in your personal safari jeep. You will experience firsthand the great wildebeest migration, watch cheetahs glide across the savannah or lounge under your jeep, see lion cubs practice hunting while bouncing on their siblings, watch the crocodile lay and wait patiently for their next meal, and do not get us started on the birds. In the evening sit on the deck of your luxury tent and watch the zebra, giraffes, and elephants graze. At night while sitting around a warm fire, listen to the lions and hyenas roar and yip while hearing tales of the Maasai and sharing stories from the day.

While Kenya has resumed all travel and business operations, we recommend you visit the State Department’s advisory page for more information on risks associated with traveling to Kenya. Please know that every measure will be taken to ensure the safety of both the trip participants and the local communities we work with.
We ask that you take the following precautions:
*COVID -19 Vaccination and Rabies Vaccination are highly recommended for travel. Please speak to your health care professional about what else might be recommended for you.
*We recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover you in the case that travel restrictions change, you are unable to travel, or something goes wrong during the trip. You can purchase this insurance through one of our preferred providers here:
Cost & Registration
The clinic portion of the trip costs a total of $3,025 USD per person, which includes all travel, accommodation, and meal costs.
